Perth Amboy, NJ. Summer.
Lenni Lenape (the "true people") or the Delaware Indians,a group of several organized bands of Native American peoples, used these beaches for thousands of years before any of European settlers arrived. In 1651, it was deeded by the Lenni Lenape to Augustine Herman from Amsterdam. Later, this Native American place name became "Ambo", and then "Amboy" on English tongues.
